Lounge Standards, Poker Rules & In-Venue Policies

Marblean Dwillow’s card lounge is a dealer-hosted, face-to-face social poker experience within our contemporary dining venue. Poker happens only inside the venue, designed for welcoming, screen-free participation with the same consideration guests bring to the dining room.

Before you arrive

Entry, age and identification

The poker lounge is an adults-only hosted space. A quick, respectful welcome check helps our team keep the room comfortable, clear and appropriate for every diner, spectator and player joining the card tables.

Eligibility

18+ only

Access to the poker lounge and card tables is strictly limited to patrons aged 18 and older. This condition applies to guests taking part and to anyone joining the lounge environment as a spectator. It is a direct entry requirement, not a discretionary suggestion, and helps preserve a relaxed adult hospitality setting.

Verification

Bring valid Australian photo ID

Every poker lounge patron must present valid Australian photo ID. Please have it ready when you arrive so the venue team can make the welcome smooth and discreet. Entry to the poker lounge and card tables depends on this verification, allowing the dealer-hosted session to begin with everyone appropriately checked in.

Hosted arrival

Settle in with the venue team

Check in with the venue team before moving to the tables. Poker tables are hosted from 5:30 PM; your dealer will welcome guests, guide seating and announce the start instructions. Enjoy table-side hospitality considerately, and return your attention to the dealer whenever a hand is underway.

Non-cash format

Tournament chips are for the table, and only the table

Every Marblean Dwillow poker event uses high-grade ceramic, non-redeemable tournament chips for table play and rankings. These chips are a practical way to follow progression through a hosted event; they are not exchangeable value and cannot be redeemed. There are zero cash prizes or cash wagering. Our format is conducted in line with Australian hospitality and amusement guidelines, with clear dealer-led play and an emphasis on social enjoyment rather than financial participation.

At the table

How a hosted poker hand runs

Your dealer is both a host and neutral table authority. They guide each hand, announce the required actions and maintain a comfortable pace, so listening for their instruction is the simplest way to keep the table clear for everyone.

1

Opening and pre-flop decisions

A standard hand opens with private cards and a clear turn order. When the dealer calls on you, make one clear action: check when the table format permits no additional action, call to match the current tournament-chip action, raise to increase it, or fold to leave that hand. Act only on your turn and keep your cards protected while you decide.

2

Community-card betting rounds

The dealer reveals shared cards in three stages: the flop, then the turn, then the river. Each stage is followed by a betting round, with the dealer announcing the next action. Keep cards, chip stacks and verbal responses easy to read. If a direction is unclear, pause and ask before moving a chip or exposing a card.

3

Showdown and table reset

If more than one player remains, the dealer will call the showdown and confirm the result. A hand may also finish earlier when all but one player folds. The dealer records tournament-chip progression according to the event format, then prepares the next hand. Their announced decision guides the hand before play resumes.

Dealer instructions always supersede page examples.

Good table manners

Showdown etiquette and dealer decisions

A readable table makes the social side of play more enjoyable. Small, considerate habits let fellow guests follow the hand, let the dealer work clearly and keep the lounge feeling welcoming from the first deal to the last.

Keep the table readable

Protect your own cards, keep tournament chip stacks orderly and make every action clear. Avoid touching another guest’s cards or chips. These simple habits are considerate of fellow players and give the dealer a clean view of the hand, especially when several guests are following the same action.

Show hands and responses respectfully

At showdown, reveal or table cards only when the dealer asks. Avoid commentary intended to influence another player and do not expose cards early while a decision is still live. Allow the dealer to read the hand and announce the result; a little patience keeps the social atmosphere easy for every guest.

Dealer-led

Dealer decisions are final for the hand

The dealer resolves action order, exposed cards, hand reading and other table questions using the venue rules and their announced instructions. If something concerns you, raise it calmly at the time it occurs. Their decision gives the table a clear point of resolution so the next hand can begin smoothly.

One welcoming venue

Dress, dining-room care and lounge conduct

Smart casual, comfortably considered

Our modern smart-casual standard is suited to both the dining room and card lounge. Please arrive neat, comfortable and considerate of the venue’s contemporary setting. The intention is inclusive rather than formal: dress in a way that supports the room’s relaxed polish and lets you enjoy an unhurried meal, conversation and hosted table time.

Shared venue

Respect shared dining spaces

Dining and poker are two expressions of one venue. Keep conversation, movement and personal belongings considerate of diners, fellow lounge guests and service teams, so each part of the room remains comfortable and welcoming.

Table-side hospitality

Enjoy it thoughtfully

Dining begins from 12:00 PM and poker tables are hosted from 5:30 PM. Enjoy dining and drinks considerately, then return your attention to dealer announcements whenever a hand is underway.

Responsible social gaming

A comfortable social experience

The lounge is designed around face-to-face conversation, hosted pacing and non-monetary tournament chips. It is a screen-free hospitality experience where guests can enjoy poker naturally alongside dining, drinks and the company at their table.

Social entertainment, not screen time

Everything happens in person inside the venue. The dealer guides play, guests meet around a physical table and tournament chips keep the format clear without creating a remote or digital experience. The focus stays on conversation, shared attention and hospitality.

Take a pause when needed

You are welcome to step away from a table, take time in the dining environment or speak with the venue team if you would like a break from play. A pause is simply part of looking after your own comfort during a social visit.

Speak with the team

Raise a comfort, conduct or rules question with the dealer or venue team early. In a dealer-hosted setting, a quiet question can be handled respectfully in the moment, helping everyone understand the next step without turning the occasion into a dispute.
